Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose my roommate?

Yes! You will have the opportunity to select your roommate preference during the registration process.

What time do we start?

Please plan to check in between 3 PM and 5 PM. Dinner will be served from 5:30 PM - 7 PM and we will host a mandatory orientation at 7 PM. We’d recommend arriving at the airport by 1:30 PM if you want to connect for carpools. West coasters, a red eye is your best option to account for delays, but a 6 AM flight should also do the trick.

What time do we end?

We will complete programming by 12 PM. Check out from your room is 11 AM, though we recommend checking out before programming begins by 8:45 AM. You are welcome to stick around for lunch until 2 PM.

What airport should I use?

We recommend Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, NC (100 miles). You may also consider Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI) in Johnson City, TN (80 miles) though flights may be more expensive.

How far is Art of Living from the airport?

Its about a two hour drive so please factor in travel time when booking your flights.

How do I get from airport to the site?

From the Charlotte airport, you can rent a car, catch a bus, a shuttle, an uber or try to catch a car pool with fellow attendees. Connect on our FB event page for ride requests.

  • Shuttles: The Hickory Hop shuttle goes from Charlotte airport to Boone five times daily. The cost is $90 per person. Please mention you are going to the Art of Living Retreat Center in Boone. Reservations are required, so please book ahead by contacting them directly.  (828) 327-2340
  • Car Rental: Enterprise, Avis, Alamo, Hertz, National and Budget all offer car rentals at Charlotte airport. Please contact the rental company directly for pricing.
  • Uber: Uber has arrived in Boone. It is often possible to take an Uber from Charlotte airport all the way to the center’s reception. This is a very cost-effective option when traveling with friends or family.
  • Public Bus: The Mountaineer Express goes from Boone to Charlotte at 9:25 AM and from Charlotte to Boone at 6 PM daily. Please check their schedule for current timings. To reach the Charlotte bus stop, you can take the Cat5 airport express. Once you arrive in Boone, you can take an Uber to the center

Will there be time to check out the surrounding area?

While we have built in breaks to explore the immediate campus, you likely will not have an opportunity to venture off-site during the weekend.

I live locally so I don’t need accommodations, can I pay for tuition without purchasing lodging?

Yes! If you have a valid Boone or Blowing Rock address (or address within 25 miles of Art of Living), you may purchase flat rate tuition that includes meals for $500. Contact Art of Living Retreat Center at 800.392.6870.

Do you have scholarships available?

We do indeed. Reach out by email to request funding assistance.

Is the property accessible?

The Art of Living property sits on top of a mountain which makes the terrain itself a bit treacherous for those with disabilities. That said, there are several handicap accessible room options so we recommend calling in to receive those options. AOL will make every effort possible to accommodate and regularly host disabled guests.
